Josh's Mission Feb 24, 2014

iokwe baamle!! ij lukkuun iokwe kom!!!
it sounds like it was a really great ward conference! We had ours this week as well actually and it was so great!!!! we also talked about missionary work, specifically the work of salvation what that is, how the lord is hastening his work and what we can do to help with this work. it was so great!! i got some really great insights and I hope that our ward will start to help, they are doing great already though. One thing that really stuck out to me is that we as missionaries (members and missionaries together) need to work together. Missionaries are called to teach and members are called to find.
that is so great that you had all those names for the temple!!! that was something else that we talked about. I love the temple so much and that is so good to hear that everyone was able to do so much work there, especially that Bruce got to go, I love him so much!! He is a really great example of strength and diligence to me. He is really such a great example. Him and all of our neighbors, all of our ward really, is family to me. I just have to say that I am so grateful that I have such a great family (ward family as well) the lord has truly blessed me with a strong support. I love you all so much!! I am so glad for the knowledge of the plan of salvation!!
So this week was so awesome!!! the Lord truly blessed us with many miracles!! we were able to meet with jennie and daniel ( invesigators) and set a new baptism date and talk about marriage with them. we met with franly (a less active), he is trying to quit smoking and we talked about setting a date for him to get married as well, he's marshallese and lives with his fiance. We meet some really great potential investigators. and Elder Kay is so awesome!!! he has a great testimony and is really friendly and loves to laugh :)
the week went by way fast, I really can't even believe that we are starting a new week already!! we have zone conference this week down in nauvoo again!! and I can't wait!!! it's going to be really great!!

thank you so much family for you love, prayers, and support!! I know that Heavenly father loves us all and that he takes care of us as long as we are faithful to his gospel. I am so grateful that he has provided the way for us to obtain the greatest gift of all. I've really come to realize this week how important it is to be humble, to accept the will of the lord and to give him the credit. Everything that we have, we owe to him. and even if we serve with all that we have for our whole lives, we still couldn't repay him, but he doesn't ask us to repay him. all that he asks, is to love him and to keep his commandments. that is a continual process that we have to try our hardest to do!! I know that that is true!! and that he really does love us and understands what we go through!!

Josh's Mission Feb 17, 2014

Iokwe Baamle!!!
What a crazy but very good week. It was kind of slow and first. So Elder Tappen left sunday night and I stayed with the marshallese elder till transferson thursday and the then got my new comp, Elder Kay.
Elder Kay is awesome!! I love him already! He is super funny and works really hard. he's been out almost 8 months. He's from Mona UT. and is really a great missionary! I'm way excited to serve with him and it's going to be a great transfer. He also served with Elder tappen and my zone leader. and two sisters that are in our district.
We haven't seen Mary yet this week. I wasn't in my area until thrusday night. but we will see her in the next couple days. Also we are still teaching Pierre, the preacher, but we haven't been able to see him either. He's not home very much.
We set a baptism date with an investigator yesterday though. Kanomi, he's marshallese. We've been working with him for awhile now, he knows that everything is true and he really wants to be baptized. His whole family are members, but he lives with his girlfriend, but they are planning on getting married. and He needs a job, so we are going to help him to do that, so that he can be baptized on the 29th of march.
I just got to say, I really love the scriptures and going to church. I wish that everybody understood how important doing those simple things are. I really liked the lesson that we had yesterday in Priesthood. we talked about the importance of families and how they are central to the gospel and Heavenly father's plan. I just have to say, I love you all so much and I am so grateful that I have such a wonderful family. I tell almost everybody how much I love my family and how families are so important. I also love the scriptures so much! I was reading today in D&C 12 and verse 6 really stuck out to me. I've been thinking for a while what more I need to do and what Heavenly Father needs and wants me to do. and I specifically asked this morning what I need to be doing more and it just really hit me, I had been asking and I definitely think that I needed to read that verse  "Now, as you have asked, behold, I say unto you, keep my commandments, and seek to bring forth and establish the cause of Zion." i know that heavenly father answers our prayers. I also really like the next couple of sections where it talks about the most important work that we can be doing is to preach the gospel. I was also thinking about a quote from Pres utchdorf "at all times preach the gospel, and sometimes use words." what are some ways that we do that??
that's really great to hear about Briant and Tiffany! and way to go Beth!!! that's awesome!! you have to tell me all about it!
i love you family!! so much! the Lord has truly blessed us so much! sometimes those blessings are hard to see but they are there. thank you so much for your prayers, love and support.

Josh's Mission Feb 4, 2014

Iokwe baamle (Hello family)
sorry I didn't email yesterday, we had zone p day and wasn't able to.

It's is so great to hear how much success the ward is having! that is truly a blessing. In know that Heavenly father is moving His work forward more than ever. It is such a great time to be His servant. On sunday in priesthood we talked about missionary work and how important it is to start now and not procrastinate. I really wish that I had been better at that and I'm still working on it.But I know that it is so important that we do everything in our power right now, to do what heavenly father wants so that we don't miss opportunities, but if we do, then we repent and do better as soon as possible. We were invited to talk a little as well, so we talked a little about how we are all in this work together. Heavenly father expects us to be good examples and to always remember him and to always keep his commandments. those are the covenants that we made when we were baptized and that we renew each week. We talked about how, in the elders quorum, we are all elders and we all the responsibility to help people come closer to Christ. and extension to that is that we are all called as members/missionaries. I love the first presidency message in Preach my Gospel. it tells us what we should be doing, and what heavenly father expects of us. will you read it? and tell me what you think heavenly father wants you to be doing more?
so, as you know, elder tappen is leaving. He is actually leaving on saturday, so I will be with out a companion for about 5 days. i don't know yet what I will be doing but i know the lord will provide.

We've had a pretty good week. I just have to say that it is so great to be in a ward that is so good to us. and I'm grateful that no matter where we go, the gospel is always the same. We had some really great lessons with members this week that just made me realize how great it is to be a part of this gospel. supporting each other is so important and what the Lord wants us to do. To love our neighbor as out self.
We were able to meet with pierre and had a good lesson with him about priesthood authority. He is a baptist minister and tells us all the time that he thinks that he was baptized with the correct authority, so he asked us why we thought we had the only correct priesthood. it was good and we invited him to find out for his self. the only way that we can know if this church is true is by reading the book of mormon, pondering it and praying to know if it's true. because if the book of mormon is true then Joseph smith is a prophet. and he really did see Heavenly father and Jesus Christ. and they called him as a prophet. I know that that is true.
We also meet with Jenny, we are working with her to get married to daniel, who we are trying to help stop smoking. Jenny is really great and I really think that Heavenly father has prepared her. she has a lot of faith and is very willing to do what the lord asks. she is reading from the book of mormon and was supposed to come to church but she didn't unfortunately, but I know that we can help her get there and that heavenly father will provide a way for her to be baptized.
I have also been thinking about why we ask people to be baptized. why are we baptized?? I know that when we are baptized with the correct authority that it is the beginning of our journey back to our heavenly father.
I am so grateful for a wonderful family! thank you so much for your prayers, love, and support.
